Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics referred to as NUAA, founded in October 20, 1952, is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, is subordinate to the People's Republic of China *** and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the State of China, with aerospace and civil aviation characteristics, to the science and technology-based comprehensive national key universities, but also China's "double first-class" construction of colleges and universities, and one of the first aviation institutions of higher learning founded by the People's Republic of China *** and the State of China. It is also one of the first batch of aviation institutions of higher education founded by the People's Republic of China. In 1978, SAC was recognized by the State Council as a national key university; in 1981, it was approved by the State Council to become one of the first batch of colleges and universities with the right to confer doctoral degrees in the country; in 1996, it entered the construction of the national "211 Project"; in 2000, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish a graduate school; in 2011, it became a national key university with aerospace and civil aviation characteristics, mainly in science and technology. In 2000, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to set up the Graduate School. In 2011, it became the key construction university of "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform", and in 2017, it entered into the national "double first-class" construction sequence, with three disciplines, namely, Aeronautics and Astronautics Science and Technology, Mechanics, and Control Science and Engineering, selected for the second round of the "Double First Class" program. The three disciplines of aerospace science and technology, mechanics, control science and engineering were selected for the second round of "first-class disciplines" construction list.
