Debit card freezes are mainly categorized into judicial and non-judicial freezes. Judicial freezing is because the cardholder is suspected of a criminal offense, financial crime or civil dispute. Non-judicial freezing is caused by the cardholder repeatedly entering the transaction password incorrectly, the expiration of the reserved identity information, the cardholder's unusual risky spending behavior, or the account has not been used for a long time.
If the debit card is frozen, the method of unfreezing:
1Judicial Freezing: According to Article 236 of the Provisions on Procedures for Handling Criminal Cases by Public Security Organs, the period of freezing deposits, remittances, and other property is six months, and the freezing will be lifted automatically upon expiration; however, the case is not yet over, and the public security organs can continue the freezing procedure to extend the freezing period.
2Non-judicial freezing: The cardholder can go to any branch of the card-issuing bank with his ID card and bank card to handle the unfreezing business. In addition, due to repeated errors in entering the transaction password, reserved identity information expired, etc. caused by the debit card is frozen, the cardholder can be issued through the bank's mobile banking or online banking, reset the password or update the reserved identity information and other operations to lift the freeze.
