Targeting waiters in European fine dining restaurants reveals two distinctive features: first, there are very few female waiters, and second, the male waiters are older. And the more upscale the restaurant, the higher the proportion of male waiters.

But unlike in China, they are all dressed in straight, good quality suits, ties, shiny shoes, clean, walk gently, speak politely, but not at all obsequious, and even a little bit of humor, encounter the right opportunity to joke with the guests. They look very business, very gentleman, call people respect, this and the domestic male waiter "run hall" position is very different.

European catering industry, a service concept is that we are gentlemen and ladies service. It expresses three meanings: one is the staff and customers are equal, is the master and the relationship between the guests, waiters are just a profession; two is the restaurant is to provide people with human services, not the machine to human services, emphasizing the personalized service and humane; three is to let the guests to be respected, reflecting the guests of the dignity of the lady and the gentleman, at the same time the restaurant should be a lady and the gentleman of the elegant temperament and quality of service. Therefore, the waiters in European restaurants look humble and polite, not overbearing, calling for respect.

This may be different from our habits, we generally wait staff, with young people, especially women.

But now some have changed, like the hotel room service staff, the original are young waitresses, now basically male waiters and older waitresses.
