In 2007, when the global financial crisis affects the New York restaurant market, Chef Lu Yuan (Sun Honglei) is living a decadent life in Las Vegas, making a living by making cheap buffets. After an accident that scattered his best friend's soul, Lu Yuan blamed himself and vowed to fulfill his friend's last wish: to return to China.

After returning to China with his best friend's ashes, Lu Yuan was forced by the cruel reality to change his negative attitude towards life and face everything with a renewed vigor. After unremitting efforts, Lu Yuan touches his rebellious best friend's daughter Peng Jiahe (Guan Xiaotong), who promises to study while taking care of her dementia-stricken grandmother; his ex-wife Gan Jing (Che Xiao) finds her own true happiness and no longer needs to be attached to him; and with the efforts of his suitor Jiang Lai (Jiang Shuzheng), Lu Yuan's relationship with his father is eased.

After completing all the tasks of the trip back to China, Lu Yuan decided to return to the U.S., but Jiang Lai, who has always been fond of Lu Yuan, chased him to the waiting hall and confessed her love for him.
