According to the statistical data in 2002, the proportion of primary, secondary and tertiary industries in Shanghai's GDP was 1.6%, 47.4% and 5 1% respectively. Although on the surface, the GDP output value of the tertiary industry in Shanghai has surpassed that of the secondary industry, and it has begun to transform into the service industry society in people's concept. However, if we carefully classify the tertiary industry structure, we can clearly see that in terms of outstanding proportion, the financial industry accounts for 10.8% of GDP, the wholesale, retail and catering industries account for 1 1. 1% of GDP, transportation, post and telecommunications and real estate account for 7.07% of GDP. Based on this situation, we can not only be sure that Shanghai is still a manufacturing city based on industry, but also that its tertiary industry is composed of a huge form of low service, and there is no obvious pillar tertiary industry with high added value.
