Guilin Tourism College was founded in 1985, formerly known as Guilin Tourism College; In 1994, it was renamed guilin institute of tourism; In 2115, it was upgraded to Guilin Tourism College, which is one of the two independent full-time public tourism undergraduate colleges in China. The school has two campuses, Yanshan Campus and Kailuan Campus, with a total area of 1.25 million square meters (1,885 mu) and more than 13,111 full-time students.

The school is the only key support unit of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Chinese mainland and its affiliated member units of the Education Committee, the education member unit of the Asia-Pacific Tourism Association, the "Excellent Partner of High-end Tourism Talent Training" of the Asian Development Bank, the National Tourism Poverty Alleviation Training Base, the sponsoring institution of the China-ASEAN Tourism Education Alliance, the China-ASEAN Tourism Talent Education and Training Base and the China-ASEAN Tourism Research Base. The "Five-Star Alliance" unit of China Tourism College, the first batch of youth study bases in Hong Kong and Macao, and the national advanced unit of mass sports are the small highland of Guangxi tourism talents, the carrier unit of Guangxi tourism data center and the post-doctoral innovation practice base in Guangxi; Won the National Excellent College of Catering Vocational Education and the Best Excellent Talent Training College Award of Oriental Tourism Service Industry. At present, there are 13 secondary colleges (departments), 24 undergraduate enrollment majors and 36 higher vocational college enrollment majors, covering the main areas of tourism such as "eating, living, traveling, shopping and entertainment" and the new normal. The teaching reform has achieved fruitful results. At present, there are 8 international tourism quality education certification majors of the United Nations World Tourism Organization; There are 1 pilot majors of national higher vocational college teaching reform and 1 high-quality majors in autonomous region, and 12 high-quality majors in autonomous region; The discipline of "Tourism Management" was approved as the first-class discipline (cultivation) in Guangxi, and it has two key disciplines (cultivation) of "Tourism Management" and "Design", as well as two key research and cultivation bases of humanities and social sciences in Guangxi universities: Leisure and Health Tourism Research Center and National Tourism Crafts Research Center.
