Jinfo Mountain Scenic Area is located in Nanchuan District, Chongqing, north of Dalou Mountain, with an area of 1.300 square kilometers and a scenic area of 266 square kilometers. It consists of three mountains: Jinfo Mountain, Baizhi Mountain and Jingba Mountain. Due to the special geographical location and climatic conditions, the scenic spot has buffered the invasion of Quaternary glaciers in ancient times and kept the original ecology of ancient times and different geological ages relatively intact. Karst landform features obviously, integrating mountains, water, rocks, forests, springs and caves. It is a natural scenic spot with great development value, which has been appraised by experts at home and abroad. With its unique natural features, a wide variety of rare animals and plants, strange rock formations, mysterious caves and palaces, unpredictable meteorological landscapes and precious cultural relics, scenic spots are known as national key scenic spots and national forest parks. 1988, Jinfo Mountain was approved by the State Council as the second batch of national scenic spots in the name of Sichuan Jinfo Mountain Scenic Spot. Later, 1994 was rated as a national forest park, 1999 as a national nature reserve, in 2000 as a national popular science education base and in 2006 as a national natural heritage. Among them, 1999 and in 2003, Jinfo Mountain was twice included in the pre-selection list for applying for world natural heritage because of its biodiversity and unique karst landform characteristics in karst areas.
