Da ji and the Legend of Chopsticks
This legend spread in Wenxian, Boai and En villages in Shanyang District, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. Legend has it that Shang and Zhou dynasties were moody. When eating, he either said that the fish was not fresh, that the chicken soup was too hot, and sometimes he said that the food was cold and could not be eaten.
On one occasion, da ji tasted several bowls of delicacies and found them too hot to change. In order to please Zhou Wang, da ji took off the long Hosta on her head, put it away, blew it over and over again, and then sent it to Zhou Wang's mouth. Zhou Wang thought it was a pleasure to feed da ji, so he asked da ji to do it every day.
Da ji asked craftsmen to make two long Hosta dishes specially for her. Later, this way of picking vegetables spread to the people, and chopsticks were produced. This legend is also inconsistent with historical facts. The steel chopsticks excavated by archaeologists in the Shang Dynasty tomb at Houjiazhuang 1005 in Anyang predate the Zhou Wang era at the end of Yin Dynasty. Obviously, chopsticks were not invented by Zhou Wang or da ji.
