At 3:42:53 on July 28, 1976, a sudden 7.8-magnitude earthquake leveled Tangshan, a coastal industrial city with a century-old history, into ruins. In an instant, 242,000 people lost their lives, 164,000 people were seriously injured and disabled, more than 7,200 families were destroyed and 4,202 people were orphaned. The magnitude of the disaster and the losses were rare in the world. Some foreign media in the satellite photo to see the ruins, issued a "Tangshan from the earth wiped out" sigh.

In the world, many people are skeptical: Tangshan will really be destroyed like the ancient Roman city of Pompeii? In China, more people are looking forward to: the phoenix will surely nirvana.

With one decision on earthquake relief quickly issued from Zhongnanhai, more than 100,000 people of the earthquake relief PLA converged on Tangshan, and reconstruction began: the first batch of bicycles were produced seven days after the earthquake; the first carload of coal was produced 10 days after the earthquake; and the first locomotive was built 20 days after the earthquake.......

Reconstruction

Not afraid of earthquakes. It is in such humble conditions, Tangshan people with hard-working hands to build a modern city. By the 10th anniversary of the 1986 Tangshan earthquake, a modern city had replaced the "simple city".

Development

Becoming a national garden city

Thirty years later, more than 4.2 million people out of Tangshan's 7.14 million population live in cities and towns, accounting for about 60% of the total population.

Nowadays, a regional cluster of small and medium-sized cities with rational division of labor and coordinated development has been built here, with the central city of Tangshan as the core and Qian'an
