Infectious diseases refer to infectious diseases that can spread widely between people or between people and animals, and can be spread to another person or species through various channels. Usually, the disease can be spread by direct contact with infected individuals, infected body fluids and excreta, and objects contaminated by infected people. It can be transmitted through air, water, food, contact, soil, vertical transmission (mother-to-child transmission), body fluids, feces and other ways.
Infectious diseases are caused by various pathogens and can spread among people, animals or people. Most pathogens are microorganisms, and a few are parasites. Parasites are also called parasitic diseases. Some infectious diseases, epidemic prevention departments must grasp their incidence in a timely manner and take timely countermeasures. Therefore, it is necessary to report to the local epidemic prevention department in time after discovery. This is called a legal infectious disease. There are 40 kinds of legal infectious diseases in China, including A, B and C.

Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases
Article 5 People's governments at all levels shall lead the prevention and control of infectious diseases.
The people's governments at or above the county level shall formulate plans for the prevention and control of infectious diseases and organize their implementation, and establish and improve the disease prevention and control, medical treatment, supervision and management systems for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Article 6 The health administrative department of the State Council is in charge of the prevention and control of infectious diseases and its supervision and management. The health administrative departments of local people's governments at or above the county level shall be responsible for the prevention and control of infectious diseases and their supervision and management within their respective administrative areas.
Other departments of the people's governments at or above the county level shall be responsible for the prevention and control of infectious diseases within their respective functions and duties.
The prevention and control of infectious diseases in the army shall be handled in accordance with this Law and the relevant provisions of the state, and shall be supervised and managed by the competent health department of the People's Liberation Army of China.
