The Central Party School has a Department of Marxist Theory, a Department of Philosophy, a Department of Economics, a Department of Scientific Socialism, a Department of Politics and Law, a Department of Party History, a Department of Party Building, a Department of Literature and History, and an Institute for International Strategic Studies (IISS). The Academic Affairs Department is responsible for coordinating the teaching work of the whole school. The Academic Affairs Department is a comprehensive functional department responsible for the teaching management of the whole school under the leadership of the School Committee of the Central Party School. Compiles teaching plans for the whole university and all branches, manages and coordinates teaching activities, enrolls students and manages the student registry; it is responsible for organizing the preparation of teaching syllabi and the validation of teaching materials; it reflects the teaching situation, researches and puts forward proposals for teaching reforms; and conducts research into the laws of education in the Party Schools.

Research Office
Responsible for the research and utilization of ideological and theoretical information of trainees and teachers in the Party school system, assisting the school leaders in organizing and participating in the special research on major real-life issues at home and abroad and the writing of important articles, assuming the responsibility of drafting important manuscripts of the school committee, undertaking the organization of propaganda outside the school, hosting the "Ideological and Theoretical Internal References", and compiling the "Yearbook of the Party School".

Department of Continuing Education
Organizes and implements the rotational training of leading cadres at the provincial and ministerial levels, major leading cadres at the local department (bureau) level, county (city) committee secretaries, and party secretaries of large enterprises; and undertakes matters related to high-level seminars and thematic research courses.

The Department of Continuing Education of the Central Party School is a student management organization under the leadership of the School Committee of the Central Party School, and is responsible for the rotational training of senior and middle-ranking leading cadres. The predecessor of the Central Party School Further Training Department was a part of the Marx and Lenin College, which was named the first part of the Central Party School in 1977 when the school was reopened, and was renamed in August 1983 as the Further Training Department of the Central Party School.

The predecessor of the Graduate School of the Central Party School was the Theory Department of the Central Party School. In 1981, with the consent of the State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Education, the Central Party School enrolled the first batch of degree students. The first batch of 28 master's degree students admitted through the national unified enrollment examination were trained in accordance with the national unified standard and in the way of tutorship, which accumulated initial experience for the degree graduate education of the Central Party School.In 1983, the Central Party School started to enroll master's degree students individually for the whole country, and 122 students were enrolled in the same year. At this stage, the Central Party School issued a joint enrollment notice by the Central Organization Department, the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Party School, admitted students by separate examination according to the state regulations, and cultivated them in strict accordance with the standards stipulated in the degree postgraduates' education while highlighting the characteristics of the Party School from the actuality of the Party School.In 1984, after the second batch of approvals by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Central Party School was authorized to enroll postgraduates in the specialties of Marxist Philosophy, Political Economy, Political Science and Socialism. There are more than 700 teaching staff, including more than 500 with senior titles, 117 doctoral supervisors and 143 master's supervisors, and a group of famous domestic and foreign experts and scholars in philosophy and social sciences, as well as a group of young and middle-aged discipline leaders who have made outstanding contributions in teaching and research. As of July 2009, 2,457 degree students have graduated, among whom 811 have been awarded doctoral degrees and 1,646 master's degrees; 328 master's degrees have been awarded to equivalents, and there are nearly 600 degree students in the course of study.
