Shigu Academy is located in Shigu Mountain, Shigu District, Hengyang City, a central and southern town. It is the birthplace of Huxiang culture and the first scenic spot in Hunan. It was founded in the fifth year of Tang Yuanhe (AD 811) and has a history of more than 1,211 years. As one of the four major academies in China in the Song Dynasty, Shigu Academy was the earliest one, and it has been a favorite place for literati since ancient times.

Famous historical figures such as Su Shi, Zhou Dunyi, Zhu Xi and Cai Runan once taught here, while others such as Li Daoyuan, Zeng Guofan and Peng Yulin came here to give lectures, write poems as notes, carve inscriptions on walls, or find a secluded Range Rover, which was spectacular. It is a cultural tourist attraction that integrates lectures, questions, stone exploration, sightseeing and leisure.

Distribution of scenic spots of Shigu Academy: Shigu Academy is located in Shigu Park next to Qingcao Bridge in Shigu District, with an area of 4,111 square meters. There are Yubei Pavilion, Wuhou Temple, Li Zhongjie Gong Temple, Daguanlou, Hejiang Pavilion, Zhuling Cave and other landscapes, as well as eight scenic spots of Shigu Academy, such as Dongyan Dawn, West Night Toad, Green Steaming Wind, Wading Canxue, Jiangge Book Sound, Fishing Evening Singing, Plank Road Dead Vines, Hejiang Ningbi and so on.

Building structure: Shek Gu Academy covers an area of 4,111 square meters, surrounded by water on three sides, surrounded by emptiness on four sides, with unique geographical location, beautiful scenery, tree-lined, pavilions, cornices, rippling sails on the river, and late fishing songs. Since ancient times, it has been known as "Shek Gu Jiangshan Splendid China". There is a stone drum about two meters high in the college.
