Recommended tourism projects
(1) Millennium Temple
Qianxi Temple is the first large cave at the northern end of Longmen West Mountain. It is more than nine meters high, nine meters wide and nearly seven meters deep. It was built in the early Tang Dynasty about 1300 years ago. The algae well at the top of the cave is a shallow carved lotus. The main Buddha, Amitabha, sat on Sumeru, with a plump face and bulging chest, and his clothes hung obliquely in front of the seat. All parts of his body are well-proportioned and intelligent, and his whole posture gives people a feeling of calmness and kindness. On the left of the main Buddha is the great disciple Ye Jia, and on the right is the little disciple Ananda. Next to the two disciples are Guanyin Bodhisattva and Guanyin Bodhisattva.
(2) Binyang Cave
Binyang Middle Cave is a representative cave in the Northern Wei Dynasty. "Binyang" means to welcome the birth of the sun. The third cave in Binyang was excavated during the Northern Wei Dynasty, which was built by Xuan Wudi of the Northern Wei Dynasty for his father Emperor Xiaowen. It started in 500 AD and lasted for 24 years, employing 802,366 people. Later, due to the court coup and the death of the host Liu Teng, only one of the three planned caves (Binyang Middle Cave, South Cave and North Cave) was completed, and the main statues of South Cave and North Cave were completed in the early Tang Dynasty.
(3) Guyangdong
Guyang Cave, located in the southern section of Longmen Mountain, was dug in 493 AD. It is the earliest grotto in Longmen Grottoes, with the richest Buddhist content and the highest calligraphy art .. It is large in scale and magnificent in momentum. The north wall of the cave is engraved with the words "Guyang Cave" in regular script. During the Guangxu period in the late Qing Dynasty, Taoism rose in Longmen area. Seeing that there was no owner in Guyang Cave, the Taoist priest could not bear to waste it, so he changed the statue of Sakyamuni into the moral statue of the old gentleman on the throne. Because it is said that Laojun once made an alchemy here, Guyang Cave is also called Laojun Cave.
There are hundreds of niches in Guyang Cave, which are ornate in carving and decoration, especially in modeling, lintel and forehead design.
