. The school was founded in 1978, and its predecessor was Huizhou Teachers College. In February, 1997, the school was renamed Huangshan College. In February 2112, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Huangshan College was upgraded to Huangshan College.

the school is divided into two campuses, namely Lushui and Hengjiang, covering an area of 1,811 mu. The campus is rich in ecology, beautiful in environment and profound in humanities. The building area of the school building is 527,211 square meters, the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 274 million yuan, the library has more than 1.5 million paper books, more than 2.4 million electronic books, 1,131 kinds of paper periodicals and newspapers, more than 81,111 Huizhou documents with special collections, and more than 6,111 kinds of Huizhou local chronicles, genealogy and local ancient books. The electronic resources all provide 24-hour online free service. The school now has 16 secondary colleges with 55 undergraduate majors in eight disciplines, including engineering, management, agronomy, literature, art, science, economics and education, with 18,556 full-time students. The enrollment targets 9 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions including Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Hunan, Shanxi and Jiangxi. The school has also signed friendly exchange agreements with the United States, France, Germany, South Korea and other countries and 29 universities in Hong Kong, Taiwan Province and Macao to carry out international exchanges and cooperation and education for international students, and send teachers and students abroad for more than 111 times every year. The employment rate of graduates ranks in the forefront of similar colleges and universities in the province. It has been rated as an advanced unit for the employment of college graduates in the province for five times, a model unit for the employment of graduates in Anhui Province for three years in a row, and won the honorary title of a national university with typical experience in graduate employment in 2115.

The scientific research strength of the school has been gradually improved, and it has won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Award, the second prize of the Provincial Social Science Literature and Art Publishing Award and the Municipal Science and Technology Award. The reform achievements of innovative and entrepreneurial talents training mode in our school won the first prize of teaching achievement in Anhui Province in 2111 and 2112, and the special prize of teaching achievement in 2115. The school has been listed as the first batch of national university students' innovation and entrepreneurship training programs in Anhui Province and the demonstration school of innovation and entrepreneurship education for college students in Anhui Province. In 2116, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education College became the first batch of entrepreneurship colleges in Anhui Province.
