According to the "Regulations on the National Population Census" and the State Council's decision, our country conducted the Sixth National Population Census with zero hour on November 1, 2010, as the standard time point [2]. Under the unified leadership of the State Council, the provincial government and the city's governments at all levels, with the support and cooperation of all census subjects, and through the painstaking efforts of the majority of census workers, the main stages of the population census was successfully completed. The main data quickly summarized are announced as follows:
I. Resident Population of the City
The resident population of Hangzhou is 8.704 million[3], compared with 6.8787 million at the zero hour of November 1, 2000 of the Fifth National Population Census, an increase of 1.8217 million in ten years***, an increase of 26.48%, with an average annual growth rate of 2.38%. The city's resident population outside the city inflow of 2,354,400 people, accounting for 27.06%.
Second, the family household population
The city's resident population **** there are 2,970,800 family households [4], family household population of 7,681,000 people, an average of 2.59 people per family household, compared with the fifth national census in 2000, the number of 2.98 people decreased by 0.39 people.
III. Gender Composition
Of the city's resident population, 4,457,200 were male, accounting for 51.23%, and 4,243,200 were female, accounting for 48.77%. The sex ratio of the total population (the ratio of males to females with females as the 100th percentile) dropped from 106.34 in the fifth national census in 2000 to 105.04.
IV. Age Composition
Among the resident population of the whole city, there were 991,100 people aged 0-14 years old, accounting for 11.39%; 6,543,500 aged 15-59 years old, accounting for 75.21%; and 60,000 people aged 60 years old, accounting for 75.21%. 75.21%; 1,165,800 people aged 60 and above, accounting for 13.40%, of which 784,400 people aged 65 and above, accounting for 9.02%. Compared with the Fifth National Population Census in 2000, the proportion of the population aged 0-14 decreased by 5.06 percentage points, the proportion of the population aged 15-59 increased by 3.92 percentage points, the proportion of the population aged 60 and above increased by 1.14 percentage points, and the proportion of the population aged 65 and above increased by 0.19 percentage points.
V. Population with Various Educational Levels
Among the city's resident population, there are 1,642,700 people with university (college and above) education; 1,541,700 people with high school (including middle school) education; 2,770,300 people with middle school education; and 1,972,100 people with elementary school education. The above people with various levels of education include graduates, incompletes and current students of all types of schools).
Compared with the Fifth National Population Census in 2000, the number of people with university education per 100,000 people rose from 7,206 to 18,881; the number of people with senior high school education rose from 13,758 to 17,720; the number of people with junior high school education fell from 33,276 to 31,841; and the number of people with elementary school education fell from 32,529 to 22,669. 32,529 to 22,667.
The city's resident population, the illiterate population (15 years of age and older illiterate people) of 324,100 people, compared with the fifth national census in 2000, the illiterate population decreased by 37,200 people, illiteracy rate [5] from 5.25% to 3.73%, a decline of 1.52 percentage points.
Sixth, urban and rural composition
The city's resident population, living in towns and cities of 6,372,700 people [6], accounting for 73.25%; living in the countryside of 2,327,700 people, accounting for 26.75%. Compared with the fifth national census in 2000, the urban population increased by 2,339,900 people, the rural population decreased by 517,300 people, and the proportion of urban population increased by 14.61 percentage points.
