According to the Food Hygiene Law of People's Republic of China (PRC)
Article 96 Anyone who violates the provisions of this Law and causes personal, property or other damage shall be liable for compensation according to law.
In the production of food that does not meet the food safety standards or the sale of food that is known to fail to meet the food safety standards, consumers can claim compensation of ten times the price from the producer or seller in addition to compensation for losses.
In addition, if citizens are injured by eating expired food by mistake, the medical expenses incurred should also be borne by the seller. If the circumstances are serious, criminal responsibility may be investigated. See the Food Hygiene Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) for details.
