On Jan. 5, 2022, residents of the nation's digital RMB pilot cities can already pay for their meals via digital RMB when ordering takeout from the Meituan App and Meituan Takeout App.
It has been revealed that residents in 11 digital RMB pilot areas, including Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, can already choose digital RMB payment when ordering takeout. Users can pay for their daily Meituan takeout orders with digital RMB after adding a digital RMB sub-wallet to Meituan.
In January 2022, Starbucks China announced an innovative partnership with Meituan for the digital space. The partnership will leverage the online platform's comprehensive service reach advantage and explore multiple technological means to deliver Starbucks' "coffee space" to consumers. In addition, the upgraded Starbucks "Star Delivery" service will be fully launched on Meituan Takeaway, allowing consumers to enjoy the benefits of membership, exclusive delivery service and customized ordering experience.
Company Scale
In 2019, the company's annual revenue grew 49.5% year-on-year to RMB 97.5 billion, total annual transaction value grew 32.3% year-on-year to RMB 682.1 billion, and the platform's annual transaction user base reached 450 million, of which the food and beverage takeout business continued to maintain strong growth, with the number of annual transactions increasing by 36.4% year-on-year to 8.7 billion.
The Q3 2020 financial report shows that Meituan annual transaction users 480 million, the average number of user transactions 26.8, active merchants 6.5 million.
