The Asian Paralympic Council was established in Busan, South Korea on October 30th, 2002, and was responsible for managing and coordinating the Paralympic Movement in Asia from 2002 to October 20th. In 2006, the Asian Paralympic Council was replaced by the Asian Paralympic Committee. The main managers of the Asian Paralympic Committee are elected by the General Assembly of the Asian Paralympic Committee.
The Asian Paralympic Committee was formerly known as the East Asian Paralympic Committee, and Datuk ZaHinard Abu Zalin from Malaysia was elected as the first chairman.
APC is now composed of the General Assembly (the highest decision-making body of APC, composed of national Paralympic Committees), the Executive Committee, the Kuala Lumpur management team and the Standing Committee.
APC Standing Committee includes: Medical and Sports Science Committee, Sports and Development Committee, Games Liaison Committee and Athletes Committee.
