Hohhot University for Nationalities is an ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is located in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Founded in 1953, it is the earliest ethnic college in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It mainly enrolls students from eight provinces and regions where Inner Mongolia cooperates with Mongolian. The school is one of the key schools supported by the Ministry of Education, and Hohhot University for Nationalities is the key school supported by the Central University for Nationalities.

As of June 1 1, the school has 15 teaching institutions, offering 29 undergraduate majors and 10 specialist majors, covering eight disciplines, including arts and sciences, economics, law, teachers and management, with more than 8,000 full-time students, of whom Mongolian students account for 60%. The campus covers an area of 530 mu, and the total fixed assets of the school is nearly 400 million yuan, of which the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 810.4 million yuan.
