Bai Peitang (1895—1978)

Mr. Peitang's name is Funan, and he is a white man in the south branch of Dizhai. He lost his father when he was a child and dropped out of school at home. Because his ancestors were famous doctors for four generations, he was willing to carry on the legacy of his ancestors and continue to practice medicine. His uncle praised his ambition and created an environment for him. After he devoted himself to studying medical code for several years, his uncle sponsored him to go to Xi 'an Red Cross Hospital for further study. After graduation, I should consult internal medicine and surgery. Because of accurate diagnosis, careful medication and remarkable curative effect, it soon became famous. Wei Dingzhang, the only son of the manager of Yutai Commercial Bank in Dongguan, Xi 'an, suffered from malignant fistula and sores in his crotch, but many famous doctors failed to treat him. Later, Mr. Pei Tang was invited to see a doctor. Mr. Pei Tang used the therapy of oral administration and external application, which lasted for more than years and finally recovered. In addition to consulting the medicine fee, the manager specially presented a donkey for Mr. Wang to visit and ride. According to the memory of Wei Bingwen, an old man in Nanzhi Village, when Sun Weiru was the commander of the army, there was a young woman suffering from gynecological diseases at home, and many famous doctors in urban and rural areas were helpless. Later, Mr. Bai Peitang was invited to the house for treatment. At that time, several famous doctors were present in the living room, and he was quite disdainful when he saw that his clothes were simple. When Mr. Wang visited the room, many famous doctors followed him. After the doctor felt the pulse, he said to the host, "Please ask an old woman to find out if there is a pimple under the patient's left rib." If yes, press it to see if the patient coughs or farts? " The old woman tried it according to what she said. The patient had a small pimple under his left rib, and he coughed a lot when he pressed it. All the famous doctors were surprised when they saw it. After five treatments, the young woman finally recovered. As a token of gratitude, the Sun family paid a consultation fee of 151 silver dollars. In view of the large number of people seeking medical treatment, Mr. Wang also stipulated that he would go east on a single day and go west on two days, and take turns to make house calls so as not to miss treatment. Patients in this village are not only free, but also on call. Wei Laixin, a fellow villager, thanked Mr. Wei for curing his serious illness. He once gave 41 yuan a gift and prepared a banquet for Mr. Wei, but Mr. Wei politely declined. In 1948, the villagers of Nanzhi Village specially invited Mr. Zhang Fajie, then the county magistrate of Chang 'an County, to write the four characters "Exquisite Qihuang", and jointly carved a large plaque and hung it on Mr. Bai's hall in recognition. After liberation, Mr. Wang took the lead in participating in the Dizhai Physician Association, and was soon hired by the Textile City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. When he was old, he was transferred to Dizhai Hospital and died in 1978.
