Recently, the project began to publicize environmental impact assessment from Guangzhou to expressway, Lianzhou and Huadu to Conghua. The project starts from Huadong Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou, connects with the second expressway of Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport, passes through Huadong Town, Huadu District and Aotou Town, Conghua District to the north, and finally reaches Wufeng Village, Aotou Town, and connects with Conghua-Lianzhou section of Guanglian Expressway. The total length of the project route is 18.7km, and it is built according to the two-way six-lane expressway standard.
In order to realize the harmony between expressway and the environment, there are many control factors along the project, such as water source protection areas, forest parks, basic farmland, and Guangzhou building ban areas, which make the construction difficult.
At the same time, the project passes through the northern mountainous area of Guangzhou, passing through Bushishi Forest Park, Jiulongtan Forest Park, Maodun Lake Forest Park and other scenic spots along the way, which requires extremely high environmental protection.
In order to achieve the construction goal of "safe high-speed, green high-speed and harmonious high-speed", the most stringent environmental protection measures will be adopted in the project construction, such as centralized drainage, sedimentation tank, centralized treatment of waste materials, setting up sound barriers or ventilation and sound insulation windows, etc., to ensure the minimum impact on the environment and realize the harmonious unity between expressway and the environment.
Since the resumption of work and production in February 2020, the project construction unit and design unit have taken many measures to overcome the impact of COVID-19 epidemic, and accelerated the preliminary design modification and detailed field work. In June, 2020, it was approved by the preliminary design and successfully passed the field inspection and acceptance of detailed measurement. At present, the work of construction drawing design, land use approval and pre-construction preparation is being promoted, and construction is expected to start in June this year.
After the project is completed, it will effectively connect Guangzhou Conghua, Qingyuan City and its northern area with Baiyun Airport, meeting the needs of Qingyuan, Shaoguan and other places to travel to and from Baiyun Airport quickly.

Guangzhou-Lianzhou expressway Huadu-Conghua section is an important part of the "first line" of provincial expressway network planning (that is, Guangzhou Tianhe to Qingyuan Lianzhou expressway, starting from Guangzhou Tianhe, passing Baiyun, Huadu and Conghua, and reaching Qingyuan Fogang, Yingde, Yangshan and Lianzhou, with a total length of about 292 kilometers), and it is also an important north exit highway in Guangzhou and an important distribution channel of the new Baiyun International Airport. Its construction plays an important role in improving the planning of expressway network in Guangdong Province, opening up the "dead end road" from Guangshan to Lianzhou expressway, and alleviating the traffic pressure in expressway, such as Leguang Expressway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and Pearl River Delta Ring Road. It is of great significance to enhance the radiation ability of the airport economic circle to the north, promote the integration of Guangzhou and Qingdao, and support the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
