1. The positions are different. The catering department is the front desk department and the housekeeping department is the background department. The working objects in both positions are different. For guests and objects, the same time and the same starting line, of course.

2. The number of posts varies. There are at least five ascending channels for the posts in the food and beverage department: food delivery department, front office department, banquet department, wine department, warehouse, buffet, reservation department, concierge group, sales department, etc. (except kitchen system), while there are only three ascending channels for the housekeeping department: housekeeping waiter or PA, conference service and warehouse. Relatively speaking, there will be many more opportunities for the catering department to blossom.

3. The pressure is different. The catering department has more opportunities to communicate with people than the housekeeping department, and the main target is people. It is more difficult to get along with things and communicate with people, which requires more skills and methods and faces more difficulties, which also tends to make people learn more and master more. Of course, we have gained more experience.

4. The horizon is different. The housekeeping department has to deal with the same room and the same linen every day, but the catering department has to deal with different people, different dishes and different reception methods every day. The more high-star hotels are, the more obvious they are, which also leads to different views of people in the two departments, and over time, they have formed their horizons.

5. Other, there are many non-mainstream reasons. For example, the things you eat, the people you come into contact with, the thinking of leaders, interpersonal relationships, living habits, communication methods, consumption habits, etc. can all influence a person's future and development space. However, in these aspects, compared with the staff of the housekeeping department (the same conditions), the catering department is a department that takes a big advantage.
