Dakeng Scenic Area
Located in the northeastern outskirts of Taichung City, the Dakeng Scenic Area is only 850 meters above sea level, but due to its water conservation forests and steep terrain, there has been little human development, making it a fascinatingly pristine landscape. The mountain-building movement during the two Ice Ages in ancient times has nurtured the rich natural resources of this area. The Taichung City Government has opened eight hiking trails here, combining them with leisure attractions such as the Zhongzheng Camping Area and Physical Fitness Exercise Ground, making it a popular hiking destination in Taichung City.
The system trails are interconnected and have pavilions and rest platforms for people to take a break; among them, Trail No. 5 is in a north-south longitudinal direction, stringing together Trail No. 1~4 along the mountain prongs, with gentle slopes along the way, and connected in a loop, circling around less than 3 kilometers.Trail No. 5 is accessed by the climbing entrance of the Touke Lane of the Xinwu Village, near the Zhongxingling Ridge, and has a long log trestle across the period, with a thick shade of greenery, and in autumn and winter, the mountain lacquer, Every autumn and winter, the variegated foliage plants such as mountain lacquer, juniper, and sapindus have put on their new outfits, adding bright colors to the mountains; walking along the prism, the beautiful mountain scenery of the Dakeng Mountain area can be seen at a glance, and when the weather is sunny, you can also enjoy a distant view of Taichung City, Dajia Creek, and the Hsuehshan Mountain Range.
The entrances to Trail No. 1~4 are all located next to the Liankeng Lane Industrial Road, and Trail No. 1 is 3 kilometers long, with stone and cement paths intertwined, and winding paths connecting the barbecue area and the Dakeng Physical Exercise Ground, making it a popular route for family travel. The Dakeng Physical Fitness Exercise Ground combines the flavor of the foothills and the characteristics of the terrain with a series of sports equipment and obstacles to surpass, allowing for group competitions or individual fitness training.
Trail No. 2 and 3 are steep and challenging, and are the most popular among hikers. Trail 4, which is located between 470 and 850 meters above sea level, has a great difference in gradient, with a 300-meter-long section of steep vertical slopes that tests visitors' physical strength and endurance, and is known as the "soft-footed slope"; the Zhongzheng campground at the entrance to the trail is the largest public campsite in Dakeng, and the campgrounds are sheltered in the acacia forests with the campgrounds connected by stone-step trails. There is a small artificial lake in Taichung Park, and the twin pavilions connected to the lake are the famous Zhongzheng Pavilion, with vermilion eaves reflected in the water, which is one of the most representative landscapes in Taichung City. Around the artificial lake, you can see the Moon Pavilion and the Fortress Hill monument, which is the only remaining relic of Taiwan's capital city in Taichung. The quaint Huxin Pavilion in Taichung Park was declared a municipal monument on April 17, 1999, after an evaluation by scholars and experts, and includes the pavilion body and the neighboring Zhongshan Bridge Road. [10]
Fengjia Shopping District
Fengjia Shopping District, also known as Wenhua Night Market, is located in the Xitun District of Taichung City, around Fengjia University, and is a type of shopping district night market. Wenhua Road, Fuxing Road as the core of the area, in addition to extending into the Wenhua Road can be reached Fengjia flagship night market, is currently the largest night market in Taiwan.
According to unofficial statistics on the crowds at Fengjia Night Market, there are about 30,000 visitors a day during non-holiday periods and more than 100,000 on holidays. The three consecutive days of holidays from Friday onwards have made the surrounding roads jam-packed; Wenhua Road, Fengjia Road, and Lane 20 of Fengjia Road (commonly known as Bento Street) are even more crowded, creating a large number of queuing stores. Lishan Scenic Area
Lishan belongs to Heping Township, Taichung County, for the Dajia Creek side of the "corner steps" on the settlement, an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters, the terrain is quite open; from the Valley Pass on the Lishan, the vastness of the Dajia Creek Valley and the peaks of the snow-capped mountain prisms. The Lishan area is famous for its heavenly scenery of mountains, reservoirs, and waterfalls, as well as its rich agricultural landscape. The Lishan Hotel is the most prominent building in the area and has long been the most representative landmark on the Nakasang Highway. It is also a major stop for bird watchers. After spring, plums, cherries, peaches, plums, and apples bloom in succession, decorating the mountains with a beautiful mix of red and white. In late fall, the pear tree leaves turn golden yellow, which, together with the scattered maple reds, makes Mount Li even more poetic. [10]
Gaomei Wetland
The 1,500-hectare Gaomei Wetland, located on the south side of the estuary of Dajia Creek in Qingshui, is rich in natural resources and is one of the few areas in China where geese and ducks breed collectively. Due to the combination of muddy and sandy mudflats and the mosaic of estuarine marshes, it has given rise to a rich and complex wetland ecology, as well as the largest known population of Yunlin's guan grasslands in Taiwan, with a complex ecological diversity of birds, fish, crabs and other invertebrates. The Gaomei Bicycle Path is a 1.7-kilometer-long path that runs along the Chingshui Dai Pai and the seawall to the Gaomei Wetland, starting from the Marina Bridge in the south and ending at the Gaomei seawall flood-control road in the north. With the Chingshui Dai Pai and the Gaomei Wetland adjacent to the path, the path is not only a bird's-eye view of the entire Gaomei Wetland, but it is also a great place to enjoy bird watching and watch the sun set. Baxian Mountain Forest Recreation Area
Baxian Mountain, at an elevation of 2,366 meters, is part of the Baigu Mountain system of the Xueshan Mountain Range. Due to the mountain's rich forest resources, it ranks among Taiwan's three major forests, along with Taiping Mountain and Alishan Mountain, and was once selected as one of Taiwan's Eight Scenic Spots. The green and vigorous forests are the biggest tourism resource here, and the clear and green Shiwen River and Jiabao River run through the park, adding a bit of mountainous aura to the park. There are three forest bathing trails planned in the park, one of which follows the route to visit the monument to the Eight Scenic Beauties of Taiwan, the shrine ruins, and the Jinghai Temple, where the prosperity of the past can be seen vaguely. Along the way, there is also a large area of deep bamboo forests, giant trees of Xiao Nan, and the hiking trailhead of Baxian Mountain is located here. The other two trails follow streams and are refreshing water-friendly trails. The water is slightly greenish in color and crystal clear. The upper one leads to the merging point of the two streams, while the lower one leads to the dam area, where the water falls from the dam to form a wide curtain, which is not naturally occurring, but is more spectacular than many waterfalls. Baxian Mountain is an excellent bird-watching spot, with about 60 species of birds in the area.
