The 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar is the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. As this day resides in the half of autumn, it is called the Mid-Autumn Festival, commonly known as the August Festival in folklore.
After the Ming and Qing dynasties, the custom of enjoying the moon at the Mid-Autumn Festival remained, and many places formed special customs such as burning incense, tree mid-autumn, pointing the tower lamps, releasing the sky lanterns, walking on the moon, and dancing with fire dragons.
