Recording the light and shadow of the nation, crossing the borders of the western country, Trumpchi GS8 Self-driving Western Photography Travel Series Part 3

Hello fellow car enthusiasts, we are driving the Trumpchi GS8 to explore the western frontier and the journey of recording national culture continues. In the last issue, we officially opened the humanistic part of this photography journey, and next We are gradually moving away from big cities, but we will also meet more beautiful scenery and simple friends. Now the blockbuster continues.

DAY?8 Gannan Zhagana, Gansu

After leaving Linxia, ??we drove into Diebu County in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Because it is close to the plateau, the altitude continued to rise along the way. Fortunately, The 2.0T has plenty of power, and with the 6AT gearbox, overtaking is effortless. However, after moving away from big cities, there are more and more non-paved roads. Fortunately, the ground clearance of GS8 is not bad, and it can basically drive easily without the intervention of four-wheel drive.

Our shooting target here is Zha (zhā) Ga (gǎ) Na. As soon as you hear the name, you can feel the rich taste of Tibetan culture. This is Yiwa, more than 30 kilometers northwest of Diebu County. An ancient city in the township, meaning "stone box" in Tibetan. The terrain resembles both a large-scale palace and a natural rock wall.

As you can see from the pictures we took, Zhagana Mountain is extremely steep and shrouded in clouds and mist. Various living conditions such as nomadic herding, farming, hunting, and woodcutting exist in Tibetan villages.

When we were eating there, the Tibetan elder brother was quite confident about the scenery in Zhagana. He told us that after the snowfall, the scenery was even more like a fairyland. Unfortunately, our itinerary was still very tight, otherwise it would be really I really want to stay here longer.

After having a delicious meal, we continued on the road. A few rays of sunlight suddenly appeared above the ancient city that was shrouded in clouds and fog. We ran to the observation deck and took some photos. The effect was really good.

Take a group photo to show off.

Although the scenery here is worth remembering, the road conditions are really not friendly to novices. Although they are all asphalt roads, they have many curves and undulations, and there are many large trucks. After driving for a while, your palms will become sweaty, which is not good for driving. Lao Chen was quite relaxed sitting in the passenger seat, listening to the Yanfei Lishi stereo, and playing with the big screen. I have to say that he was really big-hearted.

DAY9 Xunhua? Salar people

After taking pictures of the beautiful scenery of Gannan, we started to head northwest. Along the S202 provincial road, we visited a large Salar people in Xunhua family.

Four generations living under one roof represents family reunion, health and prosperity in the Chinese context. Photographing scenes of four generations living under one roof from various ethnic groups was one of our themes this time.

As usual, Lao Chen was still fiddling with his large-format camera. It is really not easy for such a big family of more than 20 people to get together. It would be a pity not to take a good family portrait.

When we left, the baby seemed to like this big car very much. Sure enough, men’s love for cars does not matter regardless of age.

DAY10? Qinghai? Huzhu Tu Autonomous County

We entered Qinghai along S202. Although we are in the northwest all the way, there are mostly green mountains and green waters, and we rarely see the desert Gobi scene.

This makes the car's PM2.5 air filtration system a bit wasteful, but it is also good to see the blue sky through the large sunroof (our roof trunk does not affect the opening of the panoramic sunroof).

After entering Qinghai, we quickly arrived at the next shooting location to take family photos of local Tu friends.

The Tu population is not large. There are 280,000 people living mainly in Qinghai Huzhu Tu Autonomous County. Their living habits and language are similar to those of the Mongolian people. It is widely spread in the local area that their ancestors are from the Mongols, and that Genghis Khan’s general Geri Lite (Gretai) led his troops to stay in Sobutan (in today's Huzhu County, meaning Mongolian beach), and soon died of illness. His subordinates stayed here, and later intermarried with the local Hor people, and gradually multiplied and became the legend of the Tu people.

Since they live close to Xining, the capital of Qinghai, the locals live a very prosperous life and almost every family owns a car. However, they really don’t know much about independent brands. The eldest brother of the Tu ethnic group who has always been very fond of cars deliberately got on the car to experience it. After looking at Trumpchi's flagship SUV, I also asked about the price.

A girl from the Tu ethnic group also said that the exterior and interior look good, and it feels no worse than her own X-Trail. She must look at independent brands next time she changes a car.

Preview for the next issue, after leaving Qinghai, we will continue to head northwest, and the journey will become more serious. Not only are there deserts and national delicacies, but also exciting stories after entering Tibet are waiting for you.
