(Review of the main contents of the last issue)

Let's continue to discuss what factors affect working memory. First, observe the factors that affect the speech cycle. Because the main function of the voice loop is to process the voice information, naturally any other audio that interferes with the target voice input will become interference, including dialogue sound, instrumental sound, song sound, noise and so on.

On one occasion, cognitive psychologists conducted an experiment in which three groups of students took part in the reading comprehension part of the American high school graduates' academic proficiency test under different circumstances (it should be noted here that when people read sentences, they actually extract meanings from the visual signals of words through inner silent reading, so reading also belongs to the processing range of phonetic cycle). Among them, the first group of students is completely quiet, the second group of students is in a pure music environment, and the third group of students is in the state of songs and lyrics. The experimental results show that the students in the first group have the best grades, followed by the students in the second and third groups.

In later experiments, some interesting conclusions were found: 1, the greater the audio fluctuation, the greater the influence on speech circulation. 2. Lyrics (especially rap songs) interfere more with the speech circuit than pure music. 3. Even if the songs are full of incomprehensible foreign languages, it will still cause obstacles to reading comprehension.

Maybe some friends will say, I just think listening to music is efficient. There may be several factors, such as individual differences. However, there are actually two other reasons:

1. When people are anxious and nervous, their working memory will suffer considerable resistance. At this time, music can calm people's emotions and reduce the influence of negative emotions, thus improving the function of working memory.

2. Music can sometimes block the extremely disgusting noises in life scenes (such as the sound of electric drills, car horns and brakes during decoration), thus turning high-noise into low-noise music, thus relatively improving the environment of sound interference and reducing the amount of interference on working memory.

After understanding the main factors that affect the voice loop, let's take a look at how to improve the voice loop's ability to process sound information. Of course, a quiet environment is indispensable. But actually reading aloud is also a very effective method. Psychologists abroad have also done experiments: four groups of students are asked to recite words. The first group reads words aloud, the second group listens to the recording of words read by themselves, the third group listens to others, and the fourth group reads words silently. The results showed that the first group performed best, followed by the second, third and fourth groups. For this result, psychologists believe that reading words aloud can mobilize vocal cords and facial muscles more than reading words silently, and various stimuli can strengthen memory.

In short, in order to improve the language loop's ability to process sounds in working memory. First of all, we should create an ideal environment to isolate the interference of other sounds. Secondly, if the environment does not allow, you can wear earplugs to reduce the noise of the environment. Finally, read aloud the material you want to recite.
