Zhangye Road is a century-old street, located between Zhenyuanmen and Laixumen in the center of the old city of Lanzhou. In the Qing Dynasty, the Shaanxi-Gansu Governor's Office (now the provincial government) and the Gansu Political Department (now the Police Department) were all located in this street. It was called "Zhonghua Road" before and after liberation, and was renamed Zhangye Road in the middle of last century.
Zhangye Road Pedestrian Street is divided into two floors above ground and underground, with a length of 600 meters. From Xiguan Cross to the east, there are six characteristic squares, namely, China, art, customs of the western regions, world conditions, folk customs, performing arts and the headwaters of the Yellow River. The squares are decorated with sculptures and landscape sketches with local characteristics. There are many shopping malls and brands here, which are connected with the surrounding ancient streets and alleys such as God Temple, Dazhong Lane, Muta Lane and Yongchang Road. It can be said that it integrates shopping, tourism, culture, leisure and catering, and is a good place for citizens and tourists to spend their time shopping.
