Brazilian tortoise
First, the growth environment
Turtles must be kept in water. I believe everyone knows this. There is a problem that must be paid attention to: the amount of farming and water should be sufficient.
A, the container should allow turtles to swim in it, and it is best not to choose a round container. Sometimes even a large plastic sorting box is better than a round cylinder, but it must be non-toxic;
B, the water level depends on the size of the turtle, generally not more than 5 times of its carapace, and then you need to put a floating platform inside, so that the turtle can climb up from time to time to rest, bask in the back and so on.
Second, sunshine.
Many people think that plants can be kept in the sun all the time, and it doesn't matter what animals are like, which is wrong; The Brazilian tortoise needs sunshine very much, so it is suggested to put it in a place facing south, so that the tortoise can grow healthily.
Third, pay attention to algae.
Brazilian tortoises are raised in water, and algae will grow in natural water for a long time. At this time, you need to go to a special aquarium store to buy algaecide, which is generally not expensive.
Fourth, paving stones
Raising Brazilian tortoises can spread some pebbles or pebbles on the bottom of their tanks, which is both ornamental and beneficial to their growth. Besides, never put grass in the water. This is not raising grass carp, and it is not necessary.
Fifth, water quality requirements.
Never raise it with tap water that has just been connected. Be sure to dry the tap water for 2 days, remove the chlorine in the water, and change the water every 2-3 days, but only a part needs to be changed each time, not all; Changing water is also skillful, and you can't just pour it out, otherwise the turtle will easily get sick. There are two common methods:
A, using the siphon principle, suck out the dirty water below, and then add the same amount of salary.
B, go to the flower and bird market to buy a filter, which is not difficult to use. If you are not sure, you can ask the store and read the instructions.
Sixth, food.
This link is undoubtedly the most important. When feeding, put the feed directly into the water. Turtle likes pork, beef, shrimp, small fish, chicken liver and fish. When feeding these foods, be sure to chop them up. For novice or impatient people, it is recommended to feed directly, which saves time and worry and will not pollute the water source. The temperature is high in summer, and it is usually fed 2-3 times a day. In fact, even once, it doesn't matter Only the size of their heads is needed for each feeding. Another thing to remember is that cooked food should never be fed.
Seventh, the growth temperature.
A, the most suitable growth temperature of Brazilian tortoise is 25-28 degrees. At this temperature, turtles can move and eat normally. Never feed and bathe the little turtle with hot water or cold water, which may easily cause diseases.
B, don't put it in an air-conditioned room for a while, put it outdoors for a while. The temperature difference is too large, which is extremely unfavorable to the growth of soft-shelled turtle;
C when hibernating, the turtle should be moved into a dark and quiet place indoors. Generally, the hibernation time of turtles is 10 to May of the following year. When the temperature drops below 13℃, the tortoise can't eat anything but sleep. Remember that the temperature should not be lower than 6 degrees during hibernation, otherwise it is easy to die.
