Jiaozi is a traditional special food loved by the Han people in China, and it is a must-eat food during the Spring Festival every year. According to legend, it was first invented by Zhang Zhongjing, a doctor of the Eastern Han Dynasty in China. Many provinces and cities in China also have the habit of eating jiaozi on the solstice in winter. Jiaozi is also a common food in southern China.
Jiaozi was introduced into Mongolia in Song Dynasty. Influenced by Mongolia's Western Expedition, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Italy, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan also ate jiaozi. Especially in Italy, Ukraine and Russia, jiaozi is also one of their important national traditional foods.
