In the early Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Tongli because its name was too extravagant. It is also a rural city, in Jiuli Village. In the third year of Kaiping in Hou Liang (909), Wujiang County was established in the south of Wuxian County and the north of Jiaxing, and Tongli belonged to Wujiang County.
In the Song Dynasty, after the town was formally established, probation township and Tongli belonged to Panyu township. The old name "rich soil" is overlapped, and then the word is divided into two parts, the upper part is "tong" and the lower part is "Tian" and "Tu", which become Tongli.
During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Tongli gradually moved to the south, forming a "Chuan" shape, also known as "Tongchuan", because the three logistics in the town flowed to Chenghe. The villagers originally lived in Tongli Town, and built houses on several acres of Fangsheng River, which became a busy city and was called "new land filling".
