Give a chestnut! Tableau Skill (69): Cleverly use the collapse menu to hide filters and legends.
When making dashboards, many data powders will encounter such a situation: there are too many filters and legends, and I don't know where to put them. Stacking them all together will not only make the whole dashboard look messy, but also affect work efficiency.

Is there any way to solve it? Ada recommends that everyone make a folding menu and bid farewell to this trouble!

By using the method of folding menu, you can hide filters and legends, leaving more analysis space for the interface and making the whole interface look fresher!

In this issue of "Give a Chestnut", we will share this Tableau technique: cleverly hide filters and legends with folding menus.

In order to facilitate learning, chestnuts use Tableau's own supermarket data.

The specific steps are as follows:

First, create a collapsed menu, select a category and drag it into the shape.

In the shape, select the custom pattern you like to build the folding menu logo.

Create a worksheet for indentation, so as to achieve the purpose of hiding. Because we choose to use categories to create collapsed menus, we also need to use categories to build worksheets.

? Create a new dashboard, put a horizontal container in the dashboard, put the hidden worksheet on the far left, and put the vertical container on the right.

Tips: It should be noted here that the hidden worksheet and the vertical container put in last are in the initial horizontal container!

Put our folding menu in the vertical container on the right, and then we can put the worksheet of data analysis below.

? Place a fixed-width vertical container between the hidden worksheet and the vertical container.

Next, put our filter and legend in the middle vertical container, and the title of the leftmost hidden worksheet will not be displayed.

In the dashboard operation, create a new filter, select the collapse menu for the source worksheet, and select hide for the target worksheet; Select the selection on the right and exclude all values, and then click OK.

⑨? In the dashboard, we select the entire layout container, change it to float, resize the entire container, and drag it to the far left until the hidden worksheet is squeezed out of the screen.

⑩ ? At this time, our folding menu has been basically completed, and we can see our effect with a little adjustment. Click on the pattern of our folding menu, and you can pop up the filter.
