The function of pepper
Chinese medicine believes that pepper has the function of exhausting air, which can treat fullness of chest and diaphragm, warming cold phlegm, abdominal pain and diarrhea due to cold, loss of appetite and so on. Li Peiwen, chief physician of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, said that when treating this kind of diseases, 0.6 ~ 1.5g of pepper can be ground with water and swallowed with brown sugar, or it can be soaked in wine and pasted on the chest, which can treat stomachache caused by cold. In addition, after mashing the pepper, rinse it with boiling water, and then soak it in brown sugar water for 2~3 days. Oral administration can treat stomachache caused by stomach cold. Pepper can raise blood pressure, and patients with hypotension can eat more pepper. However, for patients with fundus artery bleeding and spasm caused by hypertension, it is best not to take pepper. Li Shizhen, a medical scientist in the Ming Dynasty, once wrote such a passage in Compendium of Materia Medica: "Pepper is pungent and hot, and it is pure yang ... When it is rare, it is sick all year round, no doubt." Later, I gradually realized its disadvantages, so I got over it and got sick. "It is said that Li Shizhen often suffered from eye diseases when he was young, but he never found out the cause. Later, it was gradually discovered that the eye diseases that recur every year are related to their special love for peppers. So stop eating Chili for a while and your eyes will be fine. After his recovery, he tried pepper again and soon felt dry eyes and blurred vision. Therefore, Li Shizhen pointed out pepper in Compendium of Materia Medica to show future generations.
Pepper is also mainly used to treat colds caused by cold. Professor Li Peiwen once tried a folk prescription, that is, boiling Chili with brown sugar and shredded ginger, which is very effective in preventing colds and tastes good. In addition to the above usage, Professor Li Peiwen also specially recommended two daily usage of pepper medicated diet. One is dry eating, that is, eating fried meat dipped in pepper powder; The second is wet eating, that is, when vegetable soup or broth is cooked, sprinkle pepper while it is hot, which is not only healthy, but also smells unique fragrance.
