Jiaxing stove painting is a "wet mural" created by Han folk artists in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, because its painting method is very similar to a new mural painting method popular in European Renaissance. Wet murals are painted when the walls are wet, and they are not completely dry before the walls are dry. The painted color can easily penetrate into the wet kitchen wall, and the color is mixed with the wall. In the future, with the baking, heating and natural volatilization of the kitchen fire, the kitchen walls will gradually dry, and the patterns and pictures painted on the kitchen will not fall off or fade for ten or twenty years.

Jiaxing stove paintings are colorful, and the patterns are also different. It is difficult to define their classification accurately, and some contents overlap between the two categories. The contents presented by patterns can be roughly divided into seven categories: gods, historical stories, landscapes, animals, auspicious words, lines and patterns, utensils and plants, and fruits. For hundreds of years, the cookers in the kitchens of thousands of rural households in Jiaxing have been deeply integrated into the lives of farmers. At the same time, she is permeated with pure and simple local art. By the end of 2009, there were still more than 2,000 cooks active in rural areas in Jiaxing 1 100 administrative villages.
