Guangyuan city is located in the northern edge of Sichuan, which is a transitional zone between mountains and basins. Motianling Mountain and Micang Mountain cross the northern part of the city from east to west, which are Sichuan-Gansu and Sichuan-Shaanxi boundary mountains respectively. The northeast-southwest syncline of Longmen Mountain is inserted into the west of the city; The southern part of Sichuan is covered by arc mountains, such as Jianmen Mountain and Dalan Mountain.

The terrain inclines from north to southeast, and the relative height difference of the ridge is more than 3200 meters. The elevation of Motianling Ridge descends from the highest point of 3837 meters (lawn) at the western end to 2784 meters in the east and 800 meters in the south. Longmen Mountain is connected with Motianling and lives in Qingchuan and the west of Lizhou District.

A long and narrow piedmont ditch is formed at the junction of the front of Longmen Mountain and Micang Mountain and the arc mountain in the north of the basin. It is called "Micang Corridor". The range starts from Wangcangpuji in the east and ends at Sixia Town in the west, with a length of 137.6 km from east to west and a width of 5 km from north to south. The accumulation terrain is relatively developed, showing the landform of river valley and flat dam.
