The appearance of field snails and fusulas snails is different, we can distinguish them by observation. Fukushou Luo is becoming more and more ubiquitous in China these years, because it is an invasive alien species, plus it contains a large number of parasites, so it is not edible at all. However, some unscrupulous merchants will use Fusulo instead of snails to earn some money, once accidentally eaten may lead to illness or even death. Although Fukushou snails and field snails look very similar, there are actually some differences.
First of all, Fukushou snails and field snails are different in size after adulthood, Fukushou snails are bigger in size, this is because they eat a lot of food every day, destroying the crops planted by the people, so they multiply very fast, and they are classified as one of the harmful species by China. Fukushou snails are mostly yellow in color, and the snail meat is the same as the appearance of the Fukushou snail, but somewhat slightly whitish. The common snail, on the other hand, is greenish-brown, and the snail meat also shows this color, especially when the two are compared, and a very distinct difference can be seen. The surface of the Fukushou snail usually has only longitudinal stripes and looks shiny and smooth. Field snails have only horizontal lines on their exterior, so they appear rougher.
Secondly, the appearance of the Fukushou snail is different from that of the Tianliao snail. The conch tower of the Fukushou snail is blunt and looks short and flat, while the conch tower of the Tianliao snail has a small sharp corner at the end, which can be carefully observed as the best way to distinguish between them. In addition, the conch's cap is flatter and has a large opening area, while the conch's opening area is the opposite and its cap appears rounded. If the ingredient is already cooking, we can pinch it hard near the mouth of the snail. Fukushou snails are thin and crunchy, and they usually crumble without too much force.
Finally, the texture of Fukushou snail is slightly different from that of the snail. Fukushi snails contain a lot of parasites, and the cooking time has to be more than 15 minutes to kill most of them off. Although some people have eaten Fukushou snails, they have found that they have a poor texture and are very hard to chew. The snail tastes fresher and is rich in nutritional value, although it has less meat.
