Initially, taro was a perennial aquatic herb. The rhizome is creeping, cylindrical, 50 cm long and 1-2 cm thick, and there are many slender fibrous roots on the nodes. Scales are needle-shaped, about 10cm long and tapering. The petiole on the mature stem is cylindrical, with a length of 12-24cm and a sheath at the lower part; The length of the sheath is 7-8cm, and the upper part is larger than 1/2 and separated from the petiole into scales; The leaf blade is 6- 14cm long, as wide as it looks, and the lateral veins are slender, all of which bend upward from the proximal edge.
