Which season do you usually choose to plant zucchini in the open air in the farmhouse garden?
In the author's hometown, melons and gourds, bergamot and loofah are the four major fruits and vegetables that need scaffolding. Among them, gourd and Fugui melon are called "sister dishes", which are similar in shape and taste. Here we mainly share the cultivation of rich melons (zucchini).

When do you plant zucchini in the open air in rural vegetable gardens? Why? Growth habit

Zucchini is a vine, which likes warm and humid environment, is not drought-tolerant and has low requirements for soil. The suitable growth temperature is 22-25℃, too low or too high will affect the growth of its buds, and it can be planted when the temperature is higher than 13℃. The suitable planting time is usually in March after spring every year, and in my hometown, it is mostly from late March to mid-April.

sow seeds

Most open gardens are planted at the edges or corners, and vines are not suitable for planting in the center of the garden because of their great ductility. In March, depending on the weather, when the temperature is higher than 15℃, sowing is mainly done in holes (generally 1-2 plants can meet the edible demand of vegetables), and the hole depth is 3-5 cm, with 4-5 seeds per hole. Seeds should be soaked in warm water at 50℃ for 3-6 hours before sowing, which is beneficial to germination.

Fertilization at seedling stage

Fertilization should be carried out when the plants grow to about 10 cm after emergence. Fermented farmyard manure and urine manure are the best, if not, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, which mainly promotes vine growth. When applying fertilizer, ring fertilization is the main method, with 5 kg of manure and urine fertilizer and 200-300 g of chemical fertilizer, which is 10 cm away from the root of the seedling, and the chemical fertilizer and the covering soil are mixed evenly.

Installation and clamping

The erection time should be sooner rather than later, and the latest erection time is when the vines grow to 1.5 meters. Before that, bamboo poles or wooden sticks can be inserted to pull the vines to grow. Scaffolds are mostly net-shaped shelves, just like gourds and bergamot shelves. The height of the shelves is generally 2-3 meters. When the vine grows to 3 meters, pinching the tip promotes the germination of the lateral vine, and the length of the lateral vine is controlled at 1.5 meters.

Hua Guofei

Topdressing started at the early flowering stage, which is similar to other fruits and vegetables. The demand for phosphorus and potassium fertilizer is greater than that for nitrogen fertilizer. Most of them are decomposed farmyard manure and plant ash, or compound fertilizer. Farmyard manure does not exceed 10 kg per plant, and compound fertilizer does not exceed 1- 1.5 kg per plant, and it is not allowed to be next to plants.

Pest control

Generally speaking, there are not many diseases of zucchini, and a few diseases have no influence because of their large leaves. In order to achieve high yield and high quality, attention should be paid to the prevention and control of red spiders, aphids and powdery mildew.

Timely harvest

Pumpkins and gourds are the same, and Otawa tender melons are eaten together as vegetables. Timely harvesting can give full play to its maximum edible value, and most of them are eaten during the period of 0.5-3 kg.

Zucchini is a common fruit and vegetable. Because of the large output, although it is generally planted in the farmyard, it is mainly eaten by itself. If it is planted on a large scale, we should pay attention to its growth habits and market conditions. Friends, do you grow many zucchini in your hometown? Are there any plants in your garden?
