Carp
Carp is a fish in the family Carpidae, genus Carp. The body is prolonged and laterally flattened, plump and slightly spun humorous, with a slightly elevated back and a shallowly curved ventral margin. The head is medium to large, and the top of the head is wide smelling. The muzzle is bluntly rounded, and the upper jaw wraps around the lower jaw. Mouth slightly small, inferior, obliquely cleft, rounded. Pharyngeal cephalic teeth in three rows. Two pairs of whiskers, the muzzle whisker shorter, the jaw whisker longer.
Gill rakers short and triangular. Body covered with rounded scales, lateral line complete, slightly arcuate. Dorsal fin hard spine III; anal fin hard spine III, branched soft bar 5; caudal fin forked. Dorsal and anal fin hard spines III with serrated posterior margins. Body dorsum dark gray or yellowish brown, flanks slightly yellowish green, ventral surface light gray or silvery white. Dorsal and caudal fin bases slightly black; pectoral and ventral fins slightly golden yellow.
Carp is a freshwater lower-middle class fish, omnivorous. It is very adaptable to the living environment, inhabiting the bottom layer of the water body, with mild temperament and vigorous vitality, tolerant of cold and hypoxia, but also more resistant to salinity, and grows well in brackish water less than 7g/liter, with the optimal salinity of 1 to 4g/liter. The optimal water temperature is between 20 and 32℃, and the optimal water temperature for reproduction is 22 to 28℃. The optimal pH for growth is 7.5-8.5. Carp is an omnivorous fish, and its young mainly feed on rotifers, crustaceans and small invertebrates.
