Origin and spawning period:
Except for the western plateau, it is produced in fresh water everywhere, more in the southern river network area.
Introduction:
Small fish. The body is cylindrical, laterally compressed at the back, and the abdomen is rounded. Head pointed, mouth sub-inferior, horseshoe-shaped. Whiskers 5 pairs, mouth whiskers longest, reaching backward to or slightly beyond the posterior margin of the eye. Eyes small, superiorly lateral, without subocular spines. Scales small, buried under skin, head without scales. Lateral line inconspicuous, located on anterior half of trunk. Dorsal and ventral fins opposite, starting at about midpoint between posterior margin of anterior gill cover bone and base of caudal fin. In males, the pectoral fins are long and pointed, with small sarcomas on either side of the dorsal fin; in females, the pectoral fins are short, rounded, and fan-shaped. Caudal fin rounded. Body dorsum and sides grayish yellow or dark brown, lower half of body white or light yellow. Head, body and fins with many irregular black spots, dorsal and caudal fin membrane L spots arranged in rows. Caudal peduncle with narrow flat bulge above and below, with a large black spot at the base
