Flower language of weeping begonia: weeping begonia symbolizes homesickness and expresses the meaning of parting. And because Wang Renyu wrote "The Legacy of Kaiyuan Tianbao", it is recorded that Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty once compared Yang Guifei to a talking Haitang, which means that a beauty is considerate and like a talking flower, so later Haitang is often compared to a beauty.
Knowledge expansion of begonia and its cultural background;
Begonia is a beautiful flower, like a brocade. Since ancient times, it has been a famous flower that appeals to both refined and popular tastes. Known as "the fairy in the flower", "the noble lady in the flower", "the noble flower", and even has the reputation of "national beauty and fragrance". In ancient times, it was often planted in royal gardens, and matched with magnolia, peony and osmanthus, forming the artistic conception of "rich jade pool". According to legend, when Tang and Yang Guifei watched the lotus in full bloom, everyone admired its noble posture and even talked about its elegance. Tang looked at Yang Guifei alone and told them that the lotus was beautiful, but it was still not as beautiful as Yang Guifei's flowers. The flowers here are said to be the drooping begonia in Begonia, which is used to compare Yang Guifei's beauty and talent. Since the metaphor of Tang dynasty appeared, people have regarded Haitang as another name for considerate beauty.
Haitang is beautiful and elegant, which has also fascinated scholars of all ages, and they have displayed their talents and expressed their appreciation for the beauty of Haitang. For example, the great writer Su Dongpo's poem "Haitang" "The east wind is full of worship, and the fragrant fog turns to the corridor. I'm afraid the flowers will fall asleep at night, so I light candles and put on red makeup. " Although there is no direct description of the flower posture and color of begonia, the love for begonia is expressed incisively and vividly. In the moonlight, the fragrance of begonia permeates the dense fog, which is refreshing and intoxicating. As time goes by, the moon has quietly turned around the cloister, and the night is already deep. However, because the poet loved Haitang very much and was afraid that Haitang would fall asleep, he naively and deliberately lit a tall red candle, hoping to get along with Haitang for a little longer. In addition to literati, many painters have painted with begonia since ancient times, such as a picture of a butterfly with begonia painted by a painter in the Song Dynasty, a picture of a sleeping begonia painted by a famous painter Zhang Daqian in his later years, and so on.
According to the Ming Dynasty's Qunfangpu, there are four kinds of begonia: Xifu Begonia, Hangsi Begonia, Papaya Begonia and Sticky Begonia, each of which has a fragrance. People have their own preferences for these four kinds of begonia. The drooping begonia branches are soft and graceful in the wind, hanging down like a lady with beautiful hair covering her face, which is affectionate and more charming.
Yang Wanli, a poet in the Song Dynasty, once wrote an affectionate poem for the Chinese flowering crabapple: "If you can't get beautiful scenery, you will lose the Chinese flowering crabapple." The wind stirs the jade emperor's red world every day and dries Di Qing's purple clothes. If you are lazy and have no strength, you will still be drunk in the spring, and you will wake up and want to make up. Just like the old lady's new sentence, I dare to take it. "Imagine a drooping Haitang with purple calyx like a purple robe. The soft and drooping safflower is like a drunken woman, and the color is like the flower of spring dawn. Seen from a distance, it is bright red, as if the blue sky had been dyed red. I'm afraid the beauty of weeping begonia can't compare with peaches and apricots with similar flowering periods.
