Woody vines of Vitaceae. Branchlets glabrous. Palmately compound leaves, 3 ~ 5 palmately divided leaves, sessile lobes, rhombic narrow oval or rhombic, hairless or with sparse hairs on the lower veins, light green; Petiole is shorter than leaf. Cymes are opposite to leaves: the total pedicel is longer than petiole: flowers are small, yellow-green, calyx cup-shaped, undivided, with 5 petals, 5 stamens and flat disk edge. Berries are spherical, about 6 mm in diameter, and orange when ripe. The flowering period is May-June and the fruiting period is August-September. Born on sunny hillsides and roadsides.
China is distributed in Northeast China, North China, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan and other provinces. Roots used as medicine have the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, diminishing inflammation and relieving pain.
