Effects and Indications
The ancients had the custom of "eating wontons on the winter solstice". On the day of the winter solstice, there is a grand puja in all the major Daoist temples in the capital. Taoist priests recite the scriptures, on the table, to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the First Heavenly Father. According to Taoism, the First Heavenly Father symbolizes the first century when the chaos was not yet divided and the Taoist qi was not yet revealed. Therefore, the folk custom of eating wontons, meaning "the beginning of heaven and earth". The Qing dynasty rich tsun chung "yanjing years and times" cloud: "the shape of the wonton like chicken eggs, rather like the chaos of heaven and earth, so in the winter solstice day to eat." In other words, "wonton" is the "chaos" of the harmonization, the folk have eaten wontons of this daily small things derived from the great significance of breaking the chaos of the heavens and earth. Later generations no longer explain its original meaning, only the so-called "winter solstice wonton summer solstice noodles" proverbs, it is simply seen as a seasonal diet.

The ancient Chinese thought it was a kind of sealed bun, no seven orifices, so it is called "chaos", according to the rules of Chinese characterization, and later called "wonton". At this time, there was no difference between wontons and dumplings.
Dumplings have not changed significantly over the centuries, but wontons have flourished in the south and have developed a separate style. By the Tang Dynasty onwards, a formal distinction was made between the terms wonton and dumpling.
