Origin of Burning Incense for Blessing at Spring Festival:

As the most lively traditional festival in China, Spring Festival has a history of more than 4,000 years. There are various theories about the origin of burning incense at the Spring Festival, i.e. burning the first incense during the Spring Festival, but one of the widely accepted stories is that the Spring Festival began with Yu Shun. On a day over 2000 BC, Shun became emperor and led his men to worship heaven and earth. After Buddhism was introduced to China from India, the custom of burning incense during the Spring Festival gradually took shape. Since then, people have regarded this day as the beginning of the year. This is said to be the origin of the Lunar New Year, which later became known as the Spring Festival. Burning incense on Chinese New Year means burning incense on the head. After midnight of the Spring Festival, the moment the market opens, families burn incense and worship the gods, first sacrificing to their ancestors and welcoming the New Year, in order to welcome the joy and avoid disasters. It is a ritual from the oldest to the ninth worship, extremely sincere.
