What planting techniques do you need to master for high-yield lotus seeds?
Lotus mist, also called water pomegranate, is a kind of tropical fruit with waxy luster on its surface.

The pulp is spongy and slightly apple-like.

It is one of the fruits that people like very much. It contains protein, fat, minerals and other nutrients, and has high edible value and medicinal value. So what planting techniques do you need to master to grow high-yield lotus seeds? Let's take a look at it next!

1, variety selection

There are dozens of varieties of lotus seeds. At present, the main varieties cultivated in Hainan are Taiwan Province Black Pearl and Thailand Red Diamond.

Taiwan Province Black King Kong Lianwu is a pink variety with drooping bell-shaped and shiny fruit. When ripe, the fruit is dark red and the flesh is white. Because the fruits cultivated out of season are purple, they are commonly known as black pearls and black diamonds.

However, the pulp contains more cotton, and fruit dropping and cracking are more serious in rainy season.

2. Suitable planting time

Planting methods should be wide. Generally, the row spacing is 6m, the plant spacing is 5m, and about 330 plants are planted /hm2.

The specifications of plant spacing can be selected according to the terrain, and dwarfing and close planting can also be considered, and the spacing between plants will be thinned later.

According to the selected plant spacing, planting holes are dug at fixed points, and the specifications of the holes are length, width and depth1m.

Apply not less than 30-40kg of mixed soil manure, green manure, manure, pig manure and other organic fertilizers to each hole as the base fertilizer, and fill it with soil.

Generally, it is carefully planted in spring or autumn. When there is sufficient rain, the survival rate of seedling planting is high.

3. Water and fertilizer management

For young trees, we should focus on cultivating strong and evenly distributed backbone branches and expanding the crown to lay a good foundation for early fruiting and high yield.

Lotus mist has lush foliage and strong evaporation, so pipeline irrigation system should be laid reasonably in the park.

At the same time, cover the tree tray with weeds and field crop straws to cultivate thin soil and keep the water moist.

The growth of lotus requires a lot of fertilizer.

After flowering, topdressing should be timely and appropriate to ensure the normal development of flower buds and improve the fruit setting rate.

Fruit trees are usually topdressing 3-5 times a year.

Chemical nitrogen fertilizer should not be applied in the flower and fruit period, otherwise it will affect the flavor and sweetness of the fruit.

At the fruiting stage, rice bran, soybean meal, fish meal and bone meal were fermented and used as compost, which was combined with calcium superphosphate and potassium sulfate.

4, plastic pruning

Lotus grows fast and has many branches. Pruning is very important in order to dwarf trees, facilitate management such as harvesting and spraying, reduce typhoon hazards, and keep the tree shape and sunshine well ventilated, so as to promote early flowering and improve quality.

5, urging flowers

Generally, drugs are used to promote flowers, and fertilization and watering are used to promote germination.

Spraying drugs to promote flowers should be carried out when the weather is sunny during the day and cool in the morning and evening, and the best conditions before and after promoting flowers are similar.

The commonly used chemicals for promoting flowers are mainly low-toxic organophosphorus pesticides.

Generally, 300-400 times of 48% chlorpyrifos or 52% chlorpyrifos emulsion is sprayed on the whole tree.

6, flower protection and fruit protection

First, apply strong flower and fruit fertilizer in time to prevent fruit falling and cracking.

After picking the lotus buds, apply organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer, and spray Mei Jia fruit tree gold, gibberellin and anti-falling agent. Foliar spraying for 2-3 times.

In the case of heavy rain or continuous rainy days, girdling can control the absorption of water by trees in time and avoid fruit dropping.

Second, thinning flowers, fruits and buds to reduce nutrient consumption.

Lotus has a lot of flowers and fruits. In order to ensure the normal development of flower buds and improve the fruit setting rate, flowers and fruits should be thinned in time (before bagging) to reduce nutrient consumption.

7, pest control

The main diseases of lotus are anthracnose, blight and fruit rot.

To control anthrax, 25% prochloraz manganese salt wettable powder, 80% mancozeb wettable powder, or 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder were sprayed at the initial stage of the disease.

Spray 1 time every 5-7 days for 2-3 times continuously, and stop taking medicine 10 days before harvesting.

To sum up, farmers must master correct planting techniques and scientific management methods if they want to plant high-yield lotus seeds. If you have any questions, please leave a comment.
