The Chardonnay grape variety is one of the most famous white grape varieties in the world, and it is quite an outstanding variety. The aroma of Chardonnay itself is not very strong, in fact it is relatively light and malleable. It combines well with oak, showing good oak flavors; it also combines well with wine clay, showing harmonious yeast flavors; and it also shows well the light minerality of the land on which it is grown.
In mild appellations, such as most of Burgundy, there are usually aromas of white drupes such as peach, citrus fruits, and melon;
In tropical appellations, such as most of the New World appellations, there are usually aromas of some tropical fruits such as peach, banana, pineapple, and even mango and fig;
After malolactic fermentation
After malolactic fermentation, it has aromas of butter and cream;
If it is in contact with the mash for a longer period of time, it will have a creamy texture and flavors of bread and cookies;
After oak maturation, it will have aromas of toast, vanilla, coconut and the like;
When it is aged to the right degree, it will have aromas of honey and nuts.
