The highest elevation in Lijiang is 5596 meters, the lowest elevation is 1.0 1.5 meters, and the urban area is 24 1.8 meters, which belongs to low latitude and high altitude areas. Lijiang City is located in the southeast margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the northwest Yunnan Plateau and the middle reaches of Jinsha River. It borders Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Panzhihua City in Sichuan in the east, Jianchuan, Heqing and Binchuan counties in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture and Dayao and Yongren counties in Wei Chu in the south, and is adjacent to Lanping County in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture and Weixi County in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the west and north respectively. With a total area of 20,600 square kilometers, the city governs the ancient city, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Yongsheng County, Huaping County and Ninglang Yi Autonomous County.
