Characteristics of syrup
Solution-type liquid medicine refers to the liquid medicine formed by dispersing small molecule drugs or ions (diameter 1nm or less) in a solvent. Commonly used solvents are water, ethanol, glycerol, propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, vegetable oil and so on. Liquid medicine belonging to solution type include solution, syrup, glycerol, aromatic water agent and vinegar. These dosage forms are named according to different solutes and solvents. From the perspective of dispersion system, they all belong to molecular solution (true solution). From the point of view of plant technology, although the preparation methods of these dosage forms are not exactly the same, they have their own characteristics.

Syrup refers to concentrated sucrose aqueous solution containing drugs or aromatic substances. Sugar and aromatic substances in syrup can mask the bitter and salty bad smell of some drugs, which is convenient for oral administration and especially popular with children.

quality requirements

1, unless otherwise specified, the syrup should be clarified. No mildew, rancidity, gas production or other deterioration shall occur during storage. Allow a small amount of sediment that is easy to shake and disperse.

2. The standard of pH value and relative density should be specified for syrup.

3, loading and microbial limit inspection should comply with the relevant provisions of the "China Pharmacopoeia" 2005 edition (a) appendix preparation general rules.
