Cod, also known as the silver snowfish, long body, slightly flattened, large head, large mouth, upper jaw slightly longer than the lower jaw, the tail tapered back to the general length of 25 to 40 centimeters, weighing 300 to 750 grams. The length of the tentacle whiskers on the neck is equal to or slightly longer than the eye diameter. Both jaws and the plow bone are equipped with fluffy teeth. The body is covered with fine round scales that are easy to fall off, with obvious lateral lines, three dorsal fins, two anal fins, and all fins are without spines and are composed entirely of fin rays. The body color varies from light green or grayish to brown or blackish, and also from dull red to bright red; the head, dorsum, and sides of the body are grayish brown with irregular dark brown markings, and the ventral surface is grayish white.
