The source is the root of Jasminum sambac, a Oleaceae plant.
Chemical components contain alkaloids and sterols.
Pharmacological effects: The water solution of Jasmine Root1~ 8g/kg was injected intraperitoneally, which had different sedative and hypnotic effects on frogs, pigeons, rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs, while frogs showed general paralysis. A large dose can inhibit the isolated frog heart and rabbit heart, dilate the blood vessels of isolated rabbit ears and frog hind limbs, inhibit the peristalsis of isolated rabbit intestines, and excite the isolated uterus of rabbits and mice, whether pregnant or not.
