First, prosperity
The candied haws in Beijing were the most popular in the Republic of China. In old Beijing, there are several types of candied haws in different areas, such as refreshments in food stores, parks or theaters. Sugar-coated haws are usually sold in white porcelain plates with glass lids. They are exquisitely made and varied, including hawthorn, Bai Haitang, water chestnut, yam, orange and Sugar-Coated Berry stuffed with bean paste, melon seeds and sesame seeds.

The earliest manufacturers and sellers of candied haws were several old shops selling honey fruits, such as "the fountain of youth", "Jiulong Zhai" and "Xinyuan Zhai".
